In October we went on a short vacation to the Obudu Cattle Ranch in SE Nigeria. We had heard that it was nice place and for they were charging for rooms we were hoping it was true. However, we were hardly prepared for what we experienced.
The Obudu ranch is a luxury resort built on the top of a lush mountain. We were literally in the clouds. The resort is only a few years old and they are still building. There are many luxurious accommodations offer outstanding views of the country side. We stayed in the “cheap rooms” but still had a great time.
From the bottom it is an 11 km steep drive up the mountain with many switchbacks. For those not wanting to drive there is modern cable car to carry you to the top offering breathing views.
At the base of the mountain is modern swimming pool with two water slides and two diving boards. This is certainly not the swimming pool we use in Jos.
This photo was taken near the swimming pool and was a bit like heaven on Earth. It is far from life in Jos and most of Nigeria where people struggle to survive in the most basic of living conditions. At Obudu it is hard to believe that you are still in Nigeria.
We would love to come again, but it is not exactly affordable on a missionary salary. We thank God that we could go at least once.
